Polyisocyanates containing isocyanurate groups from 2,2,6-trimethyl-cyclohexane-1,4-diisocyanate, a process for their preparation and use

Providing novel isocyanurate-functional polyisocyanates (I) having a high NCO content and low viscosity. New isocyanurate-functional polyisocyanates (I) derived from 1,4-diisocyanato-2,2,6-trimethylcyclohexane (TMCDI) have a trimer content of more than 80 wt.% and an isocyanate (NCO) content of at least 19.3%. An Independent claim is also included for the production of (I) by heating TMCDI at 70-150 degrees C in the presence of a trimerization catalyst.
