PURPOSE: A method and a device are provided to easily measure the age of a tree by automatically measuring an interval between annular rings and analyzing the interval value using a computer. CONSTITUTION: A tree is vertically cut per necessary position to make a plate. The plate has reference lines vertically crossed on the center of the tree. The plate is fixed to a sample fixer(311), paralleling one reference line with the horizontal moving course of a CCD(charge coupled device) camera. An operator equalizes the focus of the CCD camera with the center of the plate through a computer monitor displaying the image of the plate. When the center of the lines on the computer is equalized with an annular ring, the operator clicks.
