PURPOSE: A set top box of a home automation HDTV is provided to perform a home security function by monitoring inside of home. CONSTITUTION: The set top box of a home automation HDTV comprises a door lock detecting portion(801) for detecting whether a door is locked or not and transmitting the result to a microprocessor module(80), a door locking/unlocking portion(810) for locking/unlocking the door under the control of the microprocessor module, a window lock detecting portion(802) for detecting whether a window is locked or not and transmitting the result to the microprocessor module, and a window locking/unlocking portion(811) for locking/unlocking the window under the control of the microprocessor module. The set top box further comprises a lamp detecting portion(803) for detecting whether a lamp is turned on/off and transmitting a result to the microprocessor module, a lamp on/off portion(813) for turning on/off the lamp according to the microprocessor module, an alarm/emergency light(812) for warning an alarm according to microprocessor module.
