METHOD FOR SETTING UP CALLS BY RECEIVING IP ADDRESSES FROM TELEPHONE IN INTERNET TELEPHONY GATEWAY

PURPOSE: A method for setting up calls by receiving an internet protocol(IP) address from a telephone in an internet telephony gateway is provided to directly receive the IP address from a telephone in an internet telephony gateway and connect the telephone to the internet without a table for transforming an extra IP address, so as to set up the calls. CONSTITUTION: An internet telephony gateway initiates a first and a second variable numbers. The first variable number is for displaying the number of digit inputted. The second variable number is for displaying the number of inputting special keys for displaying internet protocol(IP) addresses. If digits are inputted from a telephone connected to the internet telephony gateway, the internet telephony gateway increases the first variable number by 1. The internet telephony gateway decides whether the special keys are inputted from the telephone. If so, the internet telephony gateway increases a value of the second variable number by 1. The internet telephony gateway replaces data to the inputted special keys into '.'. The internet telephony gateway decides whether the second variable number value is more than or equal to 4. If so, the internet telephony gateway accesses a transmission control protocol/internet protocol(TCP/IP) network by using an IP address corresponding to the inputted digits and the special keys. The internet telephony gateway sets up calls through the TCP/IP network.
