APPARATUS FOR AUTOMATICALLY SWITCHING ON SCREEN DISPLAY LANGUAGE ACCORDING TO MAIN BROADCASTING SYSTEM IN MULTI-BROADCASTING SYSTEM

PURPOSE: An apparatus for automatically switching an on screen display(OSD) language is provided to perceive many systems among stored channels in a multi-broadcasting system and to automatically switch languages into a main language corresponding to the system, so as to simply decide a main language and to quickly display an OSD with characters of the decided main language. CONSTITUTION: A memory(19) stores frequencies of many broadcasting channels and main usage languages of each channel. A synchronization detector(18) detects synchronous signals only, from video signals of a video processor(10). A comparator(20) compares each channel with the frequencies, to decide broadcasting channels relating to the detected synchronous signals. A controller(15) reads the frequencies relating to each channel in the memory(19), and compares the read frequencies with broadcasting frequencies received in the comparator(20) to decide a channel, then reads a main language corresponding to a broadcasting system of the decided channel from the memory(19). The controller(15) controls an on screen display(OSD) processor(16), the memory(19), the synchronization detector(18), the comparator(20), and the video processor(10), to display the read main language on a cathode ray tube(CRT)(12) through the OSD processor(16).
