PURPOSE: Provided are a hydration retarder of plaster and cement and preparation thereof, in which the efficiency of retardation is excellent and the time of production is short, and then bad smell doesn't occur. CONSTITUTION: The hydration retarder of plaster and cement is obtained by dissolving hides of animal in alkaline solution such as sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide and settling an inorganic powder such as calcium oxide and calcium hydroxide, followed by adding surfactant, drying and crushing it.
