PURPOSE: A method for transmitting and receiving a data message of a long size is provided to be capable of sending and receiving the data message by dividing and sending the data message so as to fit the transfer condition of the exchange system. CONSTITUTION: A method is described which is to send and receive a data message of a long size in a wireless exchange system. The data message transferred from an upper application layer is divided into messages of a predetermined size comprising the same routing and segment information, and the segments are sent to a message transfer part(MTP)(300,302). The data message thus transferred is formated by the MTP(304), and the formated message is transferred to a mobile exchange system of a corresponding terminating side according to the routing information(306).
