PURPOSE: A power converter is provided to allow output voltage control with high efficiency and small volume by using a MOSFET switch as a synchronous rectifier instead of a short key diode to reduce loss at a terminal. CONSTITUTION: A converter capable of soft switching is obtained by connecting a split transformer(135) and split power switches(138,139) in parallel. The converter also includes a circuit, driving means for the main split power switch(139) and the clamp split power switch(138) capable of soft switching, driving means for an MOSFET synchronous rectifier and a controller. The driving means and the controller uses a subsidiary output of the split transformer(135). A current is split through the split transformer(135) and the split power switches(138,139) to reduce a closing loss. The converter circuit is useful to obtain high efficiency with a small volume and in particular for a converter with a small height.
