PURPOSE: A method for receiving a PNNI(Private Network Network Interface) routing in an ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) switching system is provided to consider a common processing part, a number translation, and a resource management all over a public switched telephone network(PSTN) system, so as to efficiently receive a service to a transit network of a PNNI from a PSTN, and to receive a PNNI end system in a PSTN node. CONSTITUTION: An ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) switching system extracts a setup link of a routing channel for performing a PNNI(Private Network Network Interface) routing protocol in a formal database(S201). The ATM switching system confirms whether initial link information exists in the formal database(S202). If so, the ATM switching system performs a next step. If the initial link information does not exist, the ATM switching system continuously stands by an input of an operator(S203). An initial link is generated from a human-machine interface(HMI)(S204), and the ATM switching system recognizes a local switching subsystem(ALS), an interface module(IM), and a link number(S205) to compare a TIM(Trunk Interface Module) type of the IM(S206). If the TIM type is a PNNI type, a port number is allowed to a link(S207) to use the link as a recognizer for a routing packet transmission. When a link is generated, the link is registered(S208). If two nodes are included in a same peer group by a hello protocol, a process for adjusting a dynamic topology data synchronization is performed. If reachable address information is processed, an address summarization is performed(S210).
