Electrical Connector Including Means for Terminating the Shield of a High Speed Cable

PURPOSE: An electric connector with shield terminating mechanism for high speed cable high speed coaxial cables, for terminating the metallic shields of a plurality of coaxial cables at a terminating member such as a ground blade. CONSTITUTION: This electrical connector(14) includes an insulative housing and a plurality of terminals(24, 32) mounted therein. A conductive ground blade(28) is mounted in the housing and at least a pair of positioning arms extend from the ground blade and engage the metallic shields of a pair of coaxial cables. A partition(96) on the housing extends between the positioning arms to separate the coaxial cables and maintain the metallic shields near the positioning arms.
