METHOD FOR COMPOSING ABSTRACT/DETAIL RELATIONSHIPS INFORMATION BETWEEN SEGMENTS OF MULTIMEDIA STREAM AND VIDEO BROWSING METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A method for composing abstract/detail relationships between segments of a multimedia stream is provided to perform an effective video browsing while easily approaching a selected portion, and to conveniently browse selected segments in a short time. CONSTITUTION: Segment locator is used for segments having abstract/detail relationship while being in different streams. The segment locator contains a stream locator for locating streams of segments in different streams while having abstract/detail relationship, and a section locator for representing section information of a segment in the streams. In case of the abstract/detail relationship between the segments being in asymmetric structure, relationship descript information is required. The abstract/detail relationship of the segments is included in a content based data area of a multimedia stream for efficiently browsing the multimedia stream.
