PURPOSE: A computer system using a data input device is provided to fast easy run a various application program through a function card capable of easy producing at an inexpensive cost without reference of a description or a help provided in a program CONSTITUTION: A computer system(200) is provided with a data input device for providing data to run an application program(240) of the computer system(200). The data input device comprises a function card(110), a card holder, a mouse plate(130), and input means(180), a code sensing part(150), a data processing part(160), and a data transmitting part(170). The function card(110) expresses functions of the application program and how to use the functions and card holder holds the function card(110). The mouse plate(130) supports the function card(110) and senses position of the input means(180). The code sensing part(150) senses insertion or extraction and identification number of the function card(110). The detail functions of the function card(110) is selected by a pen mouse used as the data input means. The information about the function of the function card(110) selected by the pen mouse(140) is sensed by the mouse plate(130) and is transferred to the data processing part(160). The data processing part(160) receives data from at least one of the code sensing parts(150), the input means(180) and the mouse plate(130) and interprets the data. The data transmitting part(170) transmits the interpreted data by the data processing part(160) to the computer system(200).
