/ A method saving and restoring secret data into/from graphic files

PURPOSE: A method of storing secret data in an image file and restoring the secret data is provided which stores the secret data in a BMP or JPG graphic file in an encoded form and restores the hidden data in the original form to show the data. CONSTITUTION: Secret data(DS) is encoded into encoded secret data(DE)(S100). A specific string(SS) is included at the head of secret data to form user data(S200). The string indicates that the secret data is a secret picture. The content of the user data is divided to be stored in the space of a graphic file that is not being used, with damages to the graphic of the graphic file being minimized(S300). When the data is restored, the kind of the graphic file is recognized, and then all data of the portion where the secret data was stored is read to be stored in a memory. It is judged if there is the specific string at the head of the data memory. When there is the string, data of the portion where the user data was hidden is stored as the secret data to restore the secret data hidden in the graphic file.
