SERIAL PORT APPARATUS FOR EXTRINSIC FUNCTIONS IN EXCHANGE

PURPOSE: A serial port apparatus for extrinsic functions in an exchange is provided to add a packet processing part to an exchange and a packet processing part and an extension part to a computer so that extrinsic service data can be smoothly transmitted and received between the exchange and the computer and a plurality of computers can execute data communication with the exchange using one serial communication port. CONSTITUTION: An exchange(10) is comprised of a call processing part(20), an extrinsic data processing part(30), a packet processing part(100) and a serial port part(40). The call processing part(20) executes call connection and release. The extrinsic data processing part(30) extracts or provides extrinsic functions according to a call processing result of the call processing part(20). The packet processing part(100) converts the extrinsic service data supplied from the extrinsic data processing part(30) into the packet data of a given protocol. The serial port part(40) transmits and receives packet data with an external device in serial. A computer(50) contains a serial port part(60), a packet processing part(110), an analysis processing part(70), an application processing part(80) and an extension part(120). The serial port part(60), connected with the serial port part(40) of the exchange(10), transmits and receives data in serial. The packet processing part(110) analyzes the packet data supplied from the serial port part(60). The analysis processing part(70) analyzes the data supplied from the packet processing part(110) and generates necessary data to be sent to the packet processing part(110). The application processing part(80) executes application processing for various kinds of extrinsic services, such as SMDR(Station Message Detailed Record), SMDI(Simplify Message Detailed Interface) or TAPI(Telephony Application Programming Interface). The extension part(120) outputs the data transmitted from the packet processing part(110) to the external or supplies the packet data supplied from the external to the packet processing part(110).
