PRODUCTION OF MULTIPURPOSE PRINTING PAPER CAPABLE OF BEING USED FOR COATING PAPER OF VARIOUS INK JET PAPER

PURPOSE: A process for preparing multipurpose printing paper by forming a film layer having a thickness of 2 to 3 micrometer on the surface of paper with oxidation starch and a polymeric sizing agent in place of an expensive coating layer comprising silica as a main component and pretreating with polyethylene amine, polyammonium chloride or alum is provided. Thereby, the obtained printing ink can be used for the manufacture of high quality coated ink jet products. CONSTITUTION: An absorption coating liquid comprising 2 to 6% by weight of one or more of starch selected from oxidation starch, cationic starch and ethylated starch, 0.004 to 0.01% by weight of one or more of curing agents selected from amino resin, glyoxal resin and metallic ion salts, 0.01 to 2% by weight of one or more polymeric sizing agents selected from polyurethane, acrylonitrile, acrylic acid ester, maleic acid anhydride, styrene, methacrylic acid ester, 0.1 to 5% by weight of one or more cationizing agent selected from quaternary ammonium and calcium stearate is coated on coating paper for multipurpose printing paper to produce the titled paper.
