METHOD FOR PRODUCING SILICA SLEEVE USED FOR HEARTH ROLL USING SOL-GEL METHOD

PURPOSE: A method for producing silica sleeve used for hearth roll using sol-gel method is provided, thereby the silica sleeve having improved properties can be produced. CONSTITUTION: The method for producing silica sleeve comprises the steps of: adding silica powder into the distilled water and performing ball milling of the mixture into a particle having a diameter of 1 micrometer; washing silica powder slurry with water and acid to remove contaminants from silica; adding silica into silica sol to produce slurry; adding salts containing F- ion as a gelation catalyst into slurry; inserting the slurry into a mold having desired form to produce gelated products; and drying the gelated products and calcinating the products.
