FUMIGANT FOR REPELLING INSECT PEST IN STORED GRAIN CONTAINING ESSENTIAL COMPONENT EXTRACTED FROM PLANT

PURPOSE: A fumigant extracted from a medicinal plant and capable of preventing occurrence of insect pests in grains during storage is provided, which is environmentally benign. This fumigant can replace conventional methylbromide and phosphine-based fumigants having toxicity to a warm blood animal and destructing an ozone layer. CONSTITUTION: In a fumigant for insect pests in grains during storage containing an effective component and a carrier, the effective component contains one or two or more of monoterpene mixtures selected from the group consisting of menthone, -pinene, linalool, thujone, cineole, para-cymene, eugenol and benzaldehyde. The carrier is a compound selected from the group consisting of DMSO, alcohols, ethylene glycol, glycerin and higher fatty acid.
