PURPOSE: To minimize deviation in the dimension in connection between a current- supply core wire and a rod electrode and smoothen engagement of a rubber cap, as well as to improve a connection between the current-supply core wire and the rod electrode, thereby reducing labors of a worker who performs connection between the current-supply core and the rod shaped electrode. CONSTITUTION: After calking a terminal 40 formed in a prescribed shape to a current- supply core wire 38 of a lead 11, a hole 48 of an electrode-engaging portion 42 of the calked terminal 40 is engaged with a rod electrode 10 of a fluorescent lamp 7, and thereafter, the electrode-engaging portion 42 and the electrode 10 are fixed to each other with solder 43. And, a rubber cap 44 is engaged such that it is spanned between the lead 11 and the fluorescent lamp 7, and exposed areas of the current-supply core wire 38, the terminal 40 and the rod electrode 10 are covered with this rubber cap 44. As a result, preliminary soldering for the core wire 38 as in the conventional art becomes unnecessary, and the manually rounding process for the core wire 38 as in the conventional art also becomes unnecessary.
