DNS Based Adaptive Location Update Mechanism for Internet Host Mobility

PURPOSE: A method for registering COA(Care-Of-Address) and establishing a path based on DNS(Domain Name System) in mobile communicating environment is provided to enable a communication service closed to the existing Internet capacity in a multimedia data communication application and remote mobile host service application by allowing a source host to be propagated only COA of a mobile host and to use the COA in establishing a path. CONSTITUTION: An MH(Mobile Host) present an address of its own HA(Home Agent) to FA(Foreign Agent) and requests to register a COA in the HA(11). The FA transfers the COA of MH to the HA in MH, and the HA maintains the current COA(12). The HA propagates the current COA of MH to a DNS server where the MH has registered, and the DNS server stores the COA of MH(13). The COA of MH is piggyback and propagated to an SH(Source Host)(14). The SH transfers packets to the FA on a direct path(15).
