PURPOSE: A thermophilic microorganism Brevibacillus borstelensis BCS-1 and thermostable D-stereo specific amino acid amidase produced therefrom are provided, therefore D-stereo specific amino acid amidase stably hydrolyzes amide containing D-amino acids into D-amino acid and ammonia at high temperature. CONSTITUTION: The thermophilic microorganism Brevibacillus borstelensis BCS-1 (KCTC 0673BP) produces thermostable D-amino acid amidase which has a molecular weight of 29 kDa and is stable up to 65 deg. C and at the hydrogen concentration ranging from 6.0 to 10.0. The D-amino acids is enzymatically produced by using D-amino acid amidase produced from Brevibacillus borstelensis BCS-1 (KCTC 0673BP), in which D-amino acids are at least one of amino acid selected from D-methionine, D-norvaline, D-norleucine, D-lysine, D-leucine, D-phenylalanine, D-tyrosine, D-alanine, D-aspartic acid, D-tryptophan, D-proline, D-glutamic acid and D-asparaginic acid.
