PURPOSE: A method of testing the performance of vocoder of a control station in a next-generation mobile communication system is provided which tests the function and performance of voice coding algorithms loaded on a digital signal processor chip in real time. CONSTITUTION: A test operator inputs his voice through a telephone(S101). A PSTN interface card converts the analog voice signal input through the telephone into PCM data(S102) to send the PCM data to an STBA backboard connected to an STBA board(S103). The PCM data is transmitted to a multi-channel buffer serial port that inputs and outputs data and clock signals(S104), to be delivered to an EVRC encoder(S105). The PCM data is encoded and then sent to an EVRC decoder using loop back function(S106). The voice data transmitted from the EVRC decoder is demodulated into PCM data to be sent to the multi-channel buffer serial port(S107). Then, the PCM data is delivered to the STBA backboard(S108) which transmits the data to the PSTN interface card through ST-BUS(S109). The PCM data is converted into the analog voice signal to be delivered to the telephone(S110). The test operator listens to the voice transmitted through the telephone to judge the performance of the vocoder(S112).
