A Pharmaceutical Preparation For Artemisia Moxibustion Generating Heat By Hydration Reaction And Its Structure

PURPOSE: Provided are a device for generating steam of medicinal wormwood by the heat of hydration reaction of calcium oxide and water, and wormwood moxibustion using the device. The advantage is that there is no need to use a lighter for ignition to generate steam, therefore ventilation for smoke is not necessary. CONSTITUTION: The device is comprised of: a circular cylinder(1) with aluminum foil; nonwoven fabric(2)(2') covering the top and the bottom of the cylindrical vessel; wormwood moxibustion composition(3) and water pouch(4) in the cylindrical vessel; and adhesive support(5) for the moxibustion part. The solid composition contains 15-80wt. part of calcium oxide, 2-15wt. part of anhydrous magnesium chloride, 5-65wt. part of wormwood, and the liquid composition consists of 60-99.8wt. part of water, 1-45wt. part of calcium chloride or 2-25wt. part of glycol. These composition contact each other so that wormwood steam is provided by the hydration reaction without ignition.
