The present invention is based on the finding that, in the beginning, the tertiary amino functional acrylic monomer is used as a neutralizing agent for the pendant carboxylic acid group in the dispersion of polyurethane or polyurethane / polyacrylate, and then the unsaturated monomer is selectively added with other unsaturated monomer To a process for producing an aqueous dispersion of an anionic polyurethane which undergoes a polymerization reaction.;In this way, the prepolymer of isocyanate termini can be reacted with a stoichiometric amount of hydroxy functional unsaturated monomer from 0 to 100% before being dispersed in water.;The tertiary amine functional unsaturated monomer is present in a ratio of from 0.3 to 2, and preferably from 0.7 to 1.5, to the anionic moiety neutralized in the polyurethane prepolymer.;Furthermore, the amount of carboxylic acid functional groups in the isocyanate functional polyurethane prepolymer is 1 to 15%, preferably 2 to 10%.;The invention also relates to a dispersion prepared by the process and to a coating or film obtained with the dispersion.
