The present invention provides an improved process for the preparation of 1,4-diaryl-2-fluoro-1,3-butadiene compounds of formula (I). The present invention also provides an improved process for preparing 1,4-diaryl-2-fluoro-2-butene compounds of formula IV.; Formula (I) ; Formula (IV)
