System for remote medical examination on the sea using a satellite communication net

PURPOSE: A maritime remote medical system using a satellite communication network is provided to transmit a patient's clinical data generated in a ship at sea to a medical center on land using an INMARSAT(INternational MARitime SATellite) module so that real-time diagnosis and prescription can be achieved for the transmitted data by medical specialists on land. CONSTITUTION: A maritime remote medical system using a satellite communication network consists of a ship medical system(10) and a land medical system(20). The ship medical system(10) is comprised of a patient information part(11), a diagnostic unit part(12) and a ship medical part(13). The patient information part(11) stores medical records for the crew of a ship at sea and symptom data for patients. The diagnostic unit part(12) collects picture, voice and character information for symptoms. The ship medical part(13) transmits the patient data information of the diagnostic unit part(12) to a remote place through a satellite communication network(50). The land medical system(20) is comprised of a maritime remote medical part(21), a medical information analysis part(22), a medical information part(23), and a monitoring part(24). The maritime remote medical part(21) receives the symptom data, transmitted through the satellite communication network(50), through a land base station(25) and executes remote medical diagnosis, based on the data. The medical information analysis part(22) executes analysis for the symptoms using the medical diagnostic information of the maritime remote medical part(21). The medical information part(23) classifies remote patients' diseases and makes out suitable prescriptions. The monitoring part(24) continuously monitors the states of remote patients by data information transmitted through the base station(25).
