The present invention relates to a measuring instrument and a measuring method for measuring the thermal deformation error due to heat generated during cutting and geometrical error caused by different geometry and assembly throughout the workspace of a computer numerical control (CNC) machine tool .;The measuring tool of the present invention includes a vertical or horizontal jig installed on a pallet of a computer numerical control machine tool, a reference plate installed in an oblique direction to enable linear movement to the vertical or horizontal jig, and a bar on the reference plate. It consists of a ball having a plurality of high-precision spheres arranged in three dimensions through a bar, and a contact probe positioned in front of the sphere and installed on a spindle of a machine tool to measure the center coordinates of the sphere. .;According to the method of the present invention, a measuring sphere is installed on a pallet of a machine tool, and the sphere of the measuring sphere is installed in three dimensions with respect to the X, Y, and Z axes, and the center coordinate of the sphere is measured using a contact probe. The measured value is then sent to the data processor through the detection unit, and the temperature generated by the machine tool is sent to the data processor through the temperature detector to analyze the error using the measured value of the measuring tool in the data processor. It is sent to the machine tool controller to be used for the correction of geometric and thermal deformation errors.
