PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for searching a teletext page of a wide television are provided to extend and display a page where a cursor is located on an auxiliary screen of a wide screen whenever a user moves the cursor so as to allow the user to easily search pages. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for searching a teletext page of a wide television includes a teletext signal extraction unit(30) for extracting a teletext signal from a video signal, and a receiver(40) for receiving only a requested page among pages output from the teletext signal extraction unit according to output data of a controller. The apparatus further includes a memory interface(50) for writing and reading page data received by the receiver in/from the first memory(60) and for writing and reading a page list generated by a computer(10) in/from the second memory(70), and a switch(80) for selecting data corresponding to the page list and page contents output from the first and second memories and providing the selected data to a character generator(90).
