PURPOSE: A signal processing and co-channel interference signal rejecting device and a method thereof are provided to process multilevel signals by an adaptive equalizer regardless of operation of input signals, and to reduce hardware by not using additional adjusting blocks. CONSTITUTION: A receiving device of a modulating and demodulating digital communication system receives a signal, and processes to the multilevel signal. The processed signal is applied to an adaptive equalizer, and the multilevel state of the signal applied to the adaptive equalizer is detected. The adaptive equalizer and the next step are controlled selectively according to the preceding decision. The multilevel fixed signal is processed with two or more kinds of multiple levels by the adaptive equalizer, and interference of the co-channel is rejected. The multilevel signal is processed, and the interference of the co-channel is eliminated in the modulating and demodulating digital communication system having the reference signal.
