The present invention relates to an automatic voltage regulator using a zero current switching technique, comprising: a plurality of thyristors (THY1-THY3) connected to a power input terminal (INPUT-R) for intermittent power by tap switching; An adjusting circuit section 20 for comparing the power input from the power input terminal INPUT-S and outputting an adjusting signal; A thyristor driving circuit unit 10 for driving the thyristors THY1-THY3 with the adjustment signal of the adjustment circuit unit 20; An output transformer T2 connected between the power input terminal INPUT-S and a thyristor THY1-THY3; A current phase adjustment circuit 32 for adjusting the current phase so that the current at the tap switching point becomes zero, and a signal received from the current phase signal and the comparison circuit output from the current phase adjustment circuit 32; A monostable multivibrator 34 for outputting a switching signal and a trigger signal to the monostable multivibrator 34 in response to the output signal of the adjusting circuit unit 30 to operate the monostable multivibrator 34 to operate. A current sensing unit 30 configured with a monostable multivibrator adjusting circuit 36; A filter 40 for filtering out noise components is connected in parallel to the secondary side of the output transformer T2, a plurality of taps are made on the primary side of the output transformer, a plurality of thyristor switches are connected, and an input current is detected.
