FIELD: measurement of distance between working point and surging boundary of turbo-compressor. SUBSTANCE: surging boundary is determined as function of corrected power Pr/Ks; magnitude characterizing working point of turbo-compressor is calculated as function of corrected power Pr/Ks. Set point calculation units include units for calculation of set point relative to surging boundary of turbo-compressor as function of corrected power Pr/Ks and units for calculation of magnitude characterizing working point of turbo-compressor includes units for calculation of this magnitude as function of corrected power Pr/Ks. Invention contains description of this method and device. EFFECT: reliable protection of turbo-compressor against surging and flow break- away due to use of various coordinate systems invariant relative to suction conditions with minor amount of sensors. 30 cl, 39 dwg
