The assembly of one or more separate letter boxes is structured so that each has a compartment for letters and a compartment for packets. Each box has a common door which covers both compartments, mounted on an external axis (14), to allow the door to swing by 180 deg . The door axis is secured and guided by two guide straps (18) and a precise drilling in the lid section of the letter box assembly. The individual letter boxes form modules which can be assembled in any suitable configuration.
