The procedure entails fixing a workpiece sheet (1) in the machine, making at least two through-holes (2,3) aligned with each other, fitting tapered nipples (6,8) at least in one section of the through-holes, machining the sheet, and removing the nipples when the machining is complete. During the machining stage the workpiece is re-chucked, especially turned by 180 degrees or transferred to another machine. The machining stage also includes plane-parallel machining of the front and rear sides of the sheet.
