Aqueous layer silicate dispersions and their use in the manufacture of rheology of an aqueous coating compositions

An aqueous phyllosilicate dispersion suitable for regulating the rheological properties of aqueous coating agents contains: (a) 0.5-5 wt % one or several phyllosilicates; (b) 3-50 wt % one or several aminoplastic resins; (c) 5-40 wt % one or several water-dilutable solvents; and (d) 30-90 wt % water, the percentages by weight of (a), (b), (c) and (d) adding up to 100 weight percent and the weight ratio from phyllosilicate to aminoplastic resin solid bodies lying between 0.05:1 and 0.4:1.
