The system comprises carriers (11) and supports (12) which are joined together by connectors (17,18). The connectors are not hinged, and have outside dimensions which correspond with the carriers and supports. Each connector is optimized for maximum effective moments of inertia and material characteristics of carriers and supports for loads in the region of 0 to 5000 kN.
