The steering lock is operated from the driving seat of the truck only when the reverse gear for the truck gearbox is selected, using a switch providing a signal upon selection of reverse gear and operation of the reversing lamps, for operation of a 3-way electromagnetic valve which allows a spring-loaded locking pin to locate in an eccentric bore (3) in a round steel plate (2) associated with a rotary crown (1) mounted on the trailer chassis.
