Inorganic textile fiber material is a fabric or needle punched fabric produced from high-temperature resistant high textile Al2O3-modified silicic acid stacked fibers. The material has the following properties: a crude density of 60-350, preferably 80-180 kg/m3, a thickness of 1-30, preferably 3-10 mm, and a compression behavior for pressures up to 2 MPa of 10-95%, preferably 10-50%. An Independent claim is also included for an I.C. engine exhaust gas converter containing a ceramic body in a housing. The ceramic body is surrounded by the inorganic textile material and fixed by this in the housing.
