The device includes a moving cover arranged on the front of a protective housing (10). The device is fixed by means of mounting struts (24) which fit behind the insulated case of the electrical outlet. The struts are provided on the left and right side walls. The movable cover may consist of two doors which are hinged in bore holes in the protective housing. The doors may be elastically bendable, e.g. made of plastics which is dishwasher safe.
