A device for UV and IR lighting of exhibits in display cabinets has light-generating opto-electronic components (3) like LEDs installed in the light ceiling (2) of the cabinet at different radiation angles. The light ceiling designed as a plate consists of the materials glass and/or metal and/or plastic and/or wood material. Into this plate-shaped light ceiling are introduced openings (4) of arbitrary arrangement and geometry in which the opto-electronic components are inserted in individual or group arrangements with or without a mounting body. The mounting bodies (5) carry opto-electronic components in an arbitrary arrangement with or without circuit boards.
