The method involves simulating the deceleration forces of a real crash by accelerating a crash carriage (9) according to the real deceleration curve. During the test a force is exerted on the crash carriage in the acceleration direction (II) that is greater than the force required for the acceleration of the real deceleration curve, and an opposing braking force is applied of such a magnitude as to achieve the desired acceleration curve on the carriage or on a driving device (7). An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for implementing the method.
