A waste water purification unit, comprising a filter (50) cleaned by external and/or internal flushing with ozone- and/or H2O2-enriched waste water, is new. A waste water purification unit comprises a sludge tank, a storage tank, a pipeline leading from the storage tank to a cleaning stage from which selectively cleaned water can be supplied to an user or to the sludge collector or storage tank, and optionally an ozone generator for enriching the waste water with ozone. The cleaning stage (18) comprises a filter (50) which is in the form of a slit tube and/or filter membrane of metal, ceramic or other ozone-resistant material and which is cleaned by external and/or internal flushing with ozone- and/or H2O2-enriched waste water.
