Production of metallic oxidic ceramic hollow spheres comprises applying the starting materials as cladding material to spherical support elements, pyrolyzing the green body formed and sintering. The support elements (1) are moved, a liquid to pasty binder applied and a dry, powdered or granulate starting material introduced to form the cladding layer (2, 3). The parallel or alternative introduction of the binder and the starting material is carried out in a technological periphery when the technological layer thickness of the cladding layer is reached and the green body is subsequently sintered. The material of the support element is pyrolyzed before finishing sintering. An Independent claim is also included for a device for carrying out the process.
