The arrangement generates a constant magnetic field using an array of permanent magnets of low remanence in a double layer carrier, preferably made of cotton. The individual magnets are square, rectangular or strip-shaped, and are displaceable in the north-south direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the carrier. The arrangement is placed under a mattress such that the horizontal components assume the desired flux density and the magnetic south poles are directed to the head end of the mattress.
