A polymer material (I), preferably for a medical instrument such as a balloon catheter comprises a polymer blend of (A) a partially crystalline polymer, preferably a polyamide or block polyether amide and (B) a flexibilizing agent, preferably a polystyrene based thermoplastic elastomer (TPE-S). Independent claims are included for: (i) a process for the production of the material (I) by compounding (A) and (B) to form a copolymer; (ii) a balloon for a balloon catheter comprising the material (I); (iii) a medical balloon catheter having a shaft and/or balloon prepared from the material (I).
