Aromatic polycarbonates containing aspartate ester-functional silicones are claimed as are also the functional silicones. Aromatic polycarbonates containing 1-30 wt.% aspartate ester-functional silicones are claimed, as are also the functional silicones which can be obtained by addition of a fumaric and/or maleic acid ester of formula (I) to an amino-functionalized silicone. ROOC-CH=CH-COOR (I) R = 1-4C alkyl or alkenyl Independent claims are also included for: (i) preparation of aromatic polycarbonates containing aspartate ester-functional silicones; (ii) polycarbonates obtained by various methods; and (iii) preparation of the aspartate ester-functional silicones.
