Method and appliance for joining a crane system (1) involve two or more crane-bridges (2,2') which move along main supports (3) as far as horizontal locking elements (9,9') in an initial stage. In a subsequent stage, the crane-bridges are lowered by a drive mechanism (8) until level with vertical positioning elements (12,12'). A plane is thereby produced between the bottom flange (11) of the main support and the bottom flange (11') of the intermediate supports (10). The trolley (13) moved on the bottom flange of the crane bridge is moved towards the intermediate supports,, and then onto the adjacent crane bridge. The two crane bridges are driven into their original position.
