The exhauster hood consists of several parts (4-8) joined to different parts of the machine in relative movement and fitted with chip deflectors, rollers and guides. The hood (2) holes can be closed off by a selfclosing cover guided by pins in parallel recesses arranged oblique to the feed direction. The recesses terminate in expanded openings slightly larger than the pins. The pins are round, the leading pin in turn flattened off both sides to a vertical flat interval slightly less than the width of the recess. The second recess continues as a round opening of constant width whose center matches that of the first guide pin.
