The method involves cooling the workpiece with a coolant that is a gas under normal conditions and that is expanded via at least one nozzle. The output pressure of the coolant prior to expansion is at least 50 bars. The coolant is at least partially converted into a solidified gas during the expansion. An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for laser welding of workpieces.
