The device comprises a type identity carrier (1) in strip form wound around a rotary axis (2) in a housing (4). The winding inner end of the carrier is firmly connected with the rotary axis. The winding outer end of the carrier is fed outwards through a slot-shaped housing aperture (41) and firmly connected to a handling component (3). Inside the housing the carrier is fitted in a closed chamber (5).
