Image recording and evaluation system for inspecting overhead contact lines of electric railway

The system includes an illumination unit with at least one laser diode and raster lens system for lateral illumination of the catenary or cross supports. A diode line camera detects the pixels on the side or cross supports. A computing unit is provided for performing data reduction on the recorded image data. A computing unit performs and evaluation with regard to defects on the side or cross supports. An oscillating mirror is used to provide the illumination and detect the complete side surfaces of a cross-support being imaged.
