Gas analysis comprises taking conductance-time profiles in a first calibration step depending on the concentration in such a way that the conductance-time profiles are recorded from different concentrations of each gas component at N 1, carrying out a post-calibration at no more than N - 1 concentrations, and numerically comparing the measuring curves with the calibration curves to identify the gas component in the gas mixture and/or adjusting its concentration.
